Relatively little work has been done on cetacean behaviour and many interesting possibilities exist. Indications of behaviour can be obtained in several ways from POD data: Tide/day related changesMany datasets contain tidal patterns of activity and these can be viewed graphically using the POD software. For greater detail, detections per hour can be extracted by exporting them to Microsoft Excel and allocating them to the tidal cycle. Diurnal patternsDiurnal patterns can be demonstrated. For example, porpoise movement at night into some areas can also be shown. Export of click train details allows changes in the prevalence of click rates to be identified. The graph below shows diel changes in the click rate of river dolphins in Amazonia, over a period of 24 hours.
